mangrove trip
The mangrove trip was more cooling than the sea shore life program trip...
In the mangroves, the guide allowed us to taste the leaf of a plant (to those who dared)
Terence in our group tasted the leaf and he said it tasted salty like chlorine.
The guide said it was due to the salty water and the plant is trying to get rid of some of the salt in it trough transpiration... as we walked trough the mangroves, we saw many tree climbing crabs.
The guide said that we spot a cicada and took a picture of it, she would treat us to a drink (i forgot who won).
the trash that we saw the most common in the mangroves were footballs and basketballs, they were trapped in between some tall roots....
This trip was less muddy than the seashore life program trip... some of us went down to the mud to see the creature in the mud, the mudskipper. The trip was really tiring, but enriching and enjoyable for us. We have discovered many new things and we are able to put them into good use in the future.
Tejas and yu peng~
